Back again

Well it's been a while since I posted.

I had quite a lapse in my exercise routine around the heat wave we just got through. I think there were one or two jogging sessions in there, definitely one on the Vineyard when we visited with Kay's mom. Also a morning fitness show, One of the Gilad shows.

8/10/06 - Yesterday, four laps of the soccer field. Not timed, cause I lost Kay's digital watch when we went sailing on the Vineyard. Felt OK. Not bad after two or so weeks off.

16 min 45 sec. About 4 and 1/2 laps of the soccer field. Lap times 3:30, 7:15, 11:00, 14:55. Feeling better after two days of rest. Still a bit slower, I think.

Rain, rain, go away... and take the humidity with you

Very, very muggy today. Low energy, and my legs weren't feeling 100%. Decided not to try running today. Tried to walk 45 minutes on the way to work. Couldn't even make it to my usual 181st street destination. On the train at 191st, after about 20 minutes. Just too humid to go on, even though it wasn't all that hot.

Now the sky has opened up, so I don't think I'll be walking home. Maybe I'll try some yoga when I get home. Maybe not.

Blegh.

15 minute run: 4 laps of the Inwood Park Lawn (soccer field) took exactly 15 min. Not an easy run today, and a somewhat slow one. It was very humid today, maybe that slowed me down.

After a rather busy Saturday (the 8th), including my longer than usual run, about 5 trips to the grocery store and the green market, a walk in the park with Kay, and cooking for several hours, Sunday (the 9th) seemed like a good day for a rest.

Back to it this morning.

16 minute run: slightly slower pace today, didn't feel as smooth. Checked my watch at 4 laps, and was surprised to discover I'd been running for about 15:20. Kept it up till 16:00, about 4 and 1/3 laps.

longest run so far

18:45 minute run: wahoo! exactly 5 times around the loop (I think, could have been 6, but that doesn't sound right). Yesterday's run was probably about 16:30, based on today's pace.

approximately 15-18 minute run: I hit the wrong button on my stopwatch, so I'm not sure exactly how long I ran. I did about 4 1/3 laps of the Inwood park lawn, on the dirt. Felt pretty good.

Thursday 7/6: 16 minute run: Felt good at the end of 15 minutes, so I thought I'd keep going a little longer. Final pulse, 160, was a little lower than usual. Also, kept running around the Inwood Park Lawn, 4 laps, instead of laping the whole park.

No beard

Well, for almost the first time in about 5 years, I'm clean shaven. Ditched the beard this weekend. Took some photo with Wolverine type sideburns during the process. Maybe I'll post those.

Exercise

Monday 7/3: 15 minute run: all at once, tougher than Friday, easier than Sunday.
Sunday 7/2: 15 minute run: all at once, evening run, tougher to finish than Friday, tried to use ipod, which froze about half way through.

First entry - exercise?

Well, on the one hand, I feel silly starting this out as an exercise journal, since I don't keep one regularly, and this particular exercise kick is barely over a week old.

On the other hand, it's what I'm thinking about, and my journal is sitting here empty, so here we go.

Friday 6/30: 15 minute run: no break! :D
Thursday 6/29: 15 minute run: 7 min, break, 8 min

Tuesday 6/27: 15 minute run: 7.5 minutes, break, 7.5 minutes
Monday 6/26: 15 minute run: in 3 pieces? (Tradewinds)
Sunday 6/25: 7 minute run, about 40 min break, and a 10 minute run (Farm Neck)

Friday 6/23: 15 minute run: in 2 pieces? (Tradewinds)
Thursday 6/22: 15 minute run: 8 min, break, 7 min (Wood's Hole)
Wednesday 6/21: 15 minute run: in 3 pieces
Tuesday 6/20: 15 minute run: in 4 pieces
